The Gmina Wieliczki is a rural community in the Powiat Olecki of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . Your seat is the village of the same name ( German Wielitzken , 1938-1945 Wallenrode ) with about 650 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the east of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , where it borders on the Podlaskie Voivodeship . The district town of Olecko ( Marggrabowa , also Oletzko or Treuburg ) is five kilometers away. Neighboring municipalities are in Podlachien Bakałarzewo in the northeast and Raczki in the southeast; in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in the powiat Ełcki Kalinowo in the south and in the powiat Olecki Olecko in the west and north-west.
The community has an area of 141 km², 70 percent of which is used for agriculture and 21 percent for forestry. The river Lega (Weeske) runs through the municipality in the west. This borders in the northwest on the Jezioro Olecko Małe (Klein Oletzkoer See) , which does not belong to their area.
history
Administrative history
The rural community was formed again in 1973 from various gromadas . Your area belonged to the Białystok Voivodeship from 1946 to 1975 and then to the Suwałki Voivodeship until 1998 , the powiat was dissolved during this time. On January 1, 1999, the community came to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship and again to the Powiat Olecki.

Church history
In the area of today's Gmina Wieliczki there has been no Protestant church since 1945. Members of the Evangelical Augsburg Church in Poland visit the churches in Ełk or Suwałki .
Almost without exception, members of the Roman Catholic Church in Poland since 1945 visit the parish churches in Wieliczki, in Cimochy (Groß Czymochen) and the subsidiary churches in Kleszczewo (Kleschöwen) and Krupin (Krupinnen) . These belong to the deanery św. Jana Apostoła in the Diocese of Ełk .

The voivodeship road DW 655 runs in a west-east direction from Giżycko (Lötzen) to Suwałki . In Cimochy (Groß Czymochen) the voivodship road DW661 branches off to Kalinowo (Kallinowen) .
The Olecko – Suwałki railway with the Wieliczki Oleckie , Wilkasy (Willkassen) and Cimochy (Groß Czymochen) stations is currently not served. - The nearest train station is in Suwałki.
The nearest airports are Gdansk and Warsaw .
