The Gmina Kalinowo is a rural community in the powiat Ełcki of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in Poland . Your seat is the village of the same name ( German Kallinowen ) with about 570 inhabitants.
geography
The municipality is located in the southeast of the voivodeship. The district town of Ełk (Lyck) is about eight kilometers to the west. Neighboring municipalities are in the Podlaskie Voivodeship in the powiat Suwalski Raczki in the northeast, in the powiat Augustowski Augustów and Bargłów Kościelny in the east and in the powiat Grajewski Rajgród in the south; in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in the powiat Ełcki Prostki in the south and Ełk in the east, in the powiat Olecki Olecko in the east and the rural municipality of Wieliczki in the north.
The rural community has an area of 285.2 km² of which 68 percent is used for agriculture and 18 percent for forestry. Their territory belongs to Masuria and the south and west of the municipality are rich in lakes.
history
The parish was re-established in 1973 after being divided into Gromadas from 1954 to 1972 . Your area belonged to the Białystok Voivodeship from 1946 to 1975 and then until 1998 Kalinowo belonged to the Suwałki Voivodeship . On January 1, 1999, the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship was newly formed, which corresponds to the Polish part of the former East Prussia province .

traffic
The national road DK16 (in much of the former National Highway 127 ) runs through the provinces Kujawy , Warmia-Mazury and Podlasie. It leads from the town of Elk (Lyck) over Kalinowo to Augustów. In the main town, the DW661 voivodship road branches off and leads to the neighboring municipality of Wieliczki.
The railway line of the Ełcka Kolej Wąskotorowa (Lycker Kleinbahnen) continues to Sypitki (Sypittken) - in the tourist traffic. The stations Pisanica (Pissanitzen) , Romanowo (Romanowen) , Borzymy (Borszymmen) , Dudki Ełckie (Duttken) , Kalinowo, Maże (Maaschen) , Milewo (Milliwen) and Turowo (Thurowen) have not been served since 2001.
The nearest international airport is Gdansk .
