Grießl is a small town in the Pongauer Salzach Valley , Salzburg State, and belongs to the Werfen municipality in the Sankt Johann (Pongau) district .

geography

Werfen is located about 13 km north of St. Johann im Pongau and 6½ km north of Bischofshofen , directly south of Markt Werfen near Pfarrwerfen . The place is directly on the left bank of the Salzach at about 530  m above sea level. A. , at the mouth of the Imlaubach . To the northwest is the Schwarzkogel  ( 1410  m above sea level ), the northeastern fore ridge of the Hochkönig, to the southwest the Auköpfls  ( 1231  m above sea level ), the eastern Klapf of the massif, already at Bischofshofen. The Höllngraben , which separates Auköpfl and Hirschkogel  ( 1486  m above sea level ) also flows out at the village . The southern roof of the Tennengebirge extends on the other side of the Salzach . Imlau is located directly above on the slope terrace facing the Salzach .

The districts south of the Imlaubach stream (classified as a hamlet ) belong to the village of Reitsam , the northern ones ( a group ) to Imlau - the addresses accordingly. Both parts are in the cadastral municipality of Reitsam , together around 40 addresses.

Economy and Infrastructure

Grießl is located directly on the B 159 Salzachtal Straße and passes the town directly (around km 39). Since 1976, the feeder to the Werfen junction of the A 10 Tauern Autobahn (Exit 43, half-connection from and to Salzburg) has been flowing to the north, while the L 229 Werfenwenger Straße branches off to Werfenweng to the south . The Pfarrwerfen junction of the A 10 is also connected to the village of Dorfwerfen (Exit 43, from and to Villach).
At Pfarrwerfen, directly on the Salzach Bridge on the L 229, there is also the Pfarrwerfen stop of the Salzburg-Tiroler Bahn .

From Grießl a hiking trail leads over the Imlau up to the Hochkönig and to the Matrashaus (over the Schwarzkogel, where the North Alpine Path WW 01 comes up from Werfen). Variant 01A leads via Oberschwabegg am Auköpfl into Hölln, and passes the high alpine parts of the Hochkönigstock to the south ( Arthurhaus via Grünmaißalm or Mitterfeldalm).
