Griesenbruch
The Griesenbruch is a district in Bochum . It is located between downtown Bochum and Stahlhausen . Springerplatz, formerly called Moltkeplatz, forms the center.
In 1790, the Bochum doctor Karl Arnold Kortum described the Griesenbruch as “a rocky, bushy valley half a quarter of an hour from the city”. The settlement took place from 1870/71, the time of the Franco-German War . The residents often worked in the Bochum association . The Arnoldschule was built in 1873 (after the destruction in World War II in 1957, the primary school was rebuilt). In 2004 the statistical sub-district 154 Griesenbruch counted 3,260 households.
