The Groß Wittenseer Moor is a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein municipality of Groß Wittensee in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district .

The almost 16  hectare nature reserve is entered under number 40 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. It was expelled in 1942 (date of regulation: February 25, 1942). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district.

The nature reserve is located southwest of Eckernförde between Groß Wittensee and Damendorf in the Hüttener Berge nature reserve . It turns into one of moraines surrounding valley lying bog under protection, which consists of a silted lake was created. The moor was used from the end of the 18th century until 1960. Today it is heavily changed by drainage and peat removal . The moor is characterized by quarry and moor forest . In between are open areas with moorland and moor grass surfaces to be found. The area around a pond is occupied by reed and sedge .

The moor is Wiedervernässungs measures rehabilitated so typical wetland vegetation such as rosemary , bell and heather legacy is like Sundew , White beak-sedge and Schei Diges and Eriophorum angustifolium . The moor is also a retreat for various amphibians such as the moor frog and common toad , reptiles such as adder and forest lizard and a habitat for typical bog insects such as black and spotted darter . From the bird world live here u. a. Common snipe , woodcock , teal , reed bunting and tree pipit .

The nature reserve, which drains via ditches to the Osterbek, which flows into the Schlei near Fleckeby , is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein State Hunting Association. In the southwest, a hiking trail runs along the edge of the nature reserve.
