The Schachtholm rinsing areas are a nature reserve in the Schleswig-Holstein community of Hörsten in the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district .

The approximately 121  hectare nature reserve is registered under number 171 in the directory of nature reserves of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Areas. It was expelled in 1995 (date of regulation: January 17, 1995). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district.

The nature reserve is located southwest of Rendsburg . It consists of two areas that are separated from the Rendsburg-Schachtholm airfield and protects a former rinsing area on the edge of the Kiel Canal . The rinsing area was created during the expansion of the Kiel Canal. It has various secondary habitats . So are dry grasslands , - fens , forest - and scrub habitats to be found. There are also two small bodies of water in the southern part of the protected area. The fen areas are occupied by reed beds and wet bushes. The bittern breeds here . Almost 290 ferns and flowering plants were found in the nature reserve , including endangered and endangered species such as moon rue , panicle knapweed , horsetail , orchid , round-leaved wintergreen and white willow .

The former sink areas belonged to the city of Rendsburg, which they sold to a private person in July 2012 . The nature reserve is looked after by the Schleswig-Holstein State Hunting Association together with the local orchid working group.
