Gustav Prince zu Ysenburg and Büdingen (born February 17, 1813 in Büdingen , † January 1, 1883 in Oldenburg ) was a Prussian diplomat and lieutenant general .

Life

origin

Gustav came from the noble house of Ysenburg and Büdingen , namely the Ysenburg special line Ysenburg and Büdingen in Büdingen . His parents were Prince Ernst Casimir I. zu Ysenburg and Büdingen in Büdingen (1781–1852) and Countess Ferdinande zu Erbach-Schönberg (1784–1848). Prince Ernst Casimir II of Ysenburg and Büdingen (1806–1861) was his older brother.

Career

Ysenburg began his officer career as a cadet in Dresden . In 1831 he was portepeefähnrich in the Guard Dragoon Regiment, where he was assigned in 1835. In 1838 he was attaché to the Bundestag in Frankfurt am Main and was then assigned ad interim to Prince Friedrich of Prussia . His command of Prince Friedrich of Prussia was extended several times, eventually indefinitely. In 1843 he was aggregated to the Guard Dragoon Regiment . There he became in the same year for the first lieutenant , was awarded in 1846 the character as captain and received in 1847 the officer's commission to his rank. In 1851 he was placed à la suite of the Guards Dragoon Regiment and sent to the Prussian embassy in Munich . In 1854 he rose to major and in 1855 he received his patent for it. The Order of the Red Eagle III. He was awarded class with a ribbon in 1858. In 1859 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and - as the successor to August Ludwig von Nostitz  - Prussian envoy in Hanover (until 1866), Oldenburg and Braunschweig .

He was promoted to colonel in 1861 and was appointed to the rank of major general in 1865 as officers of the army. At the intercession of the Grand Duchess of Oldenburg , he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class with a white ribbon in 1871 because he had taken care of wounded soldiers in the campaign . In 1879 he was promoted to lieutenant general.

He married in 1840 with Countess Bertha von Holleben (1818-1904), which for the occasion by King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. The title of Count raised was. She was lady of honor of the Bavarian Order of Theresa . The marriage resulted in two children, with a third child stillborn in 1845:
