The HC Sochi ( Russian ХК "Сочи" ) is a Russian ice hockey team from Sochi , which was founded in 2014 and the 2014/15 season the gaming operations in the Continental Hockey League resumed (KHL). The club's home games are played in the Bolshoi Ice Palace , which was built for the 2014 Winter Olympics and holds 12,000 spectators.

The association was founded in 2014 to continue using the Bolshoi Ice Palace built for the 2014 Winter Olympics . To fill the club's squad, an expansion draft was carried out on June 17, 2014, in which HK Lada Tolyatti also took part. As part of the draft, HK Sochi took over the rights to Artyom Sedunow from Amur Khabarovsk , Jefim Gurkin from Salawat Julajew Ufa and Alexander Shevchenko from Admiral Vladivostok . In return, the selling clubs received financial compensation.
