Lists on the subject

The SL9SD is a precision rifle with an integrated silencer from Heckler & Koch , which was in the troop test phase in 2007. The SL9SD was developed from the SL8 , a self-loading rifle for the civilian market, which in turn arose from the HK G36 . The weapon, which never got beyond the prototype stage, was not procured from the Bundeswehr.

The weapon uses a newly developed subsonic ammunition in caliber 7.62 × 37 mm to maximize the effectiveness of the silencer.

Also available is an unusually long Picatinny rail that allows larger sights to be attached.

This weapon is a light, compact self-loading rifle for field use and is therefore designed as a Designated Marksman Rifle . The Bundeswehr was also considering introducing the SL9 to replace the G3ZF or G3SG1 before the G28 based on the HK MR308 was decided. The SL9SD is also under discussion for use by the police, so the GSG9 is carrying out a comprehensive test.
