HK MSG 90

The military sniper rifle MSG90, introduced in 1990, is a further development of the PSG1 , with which emphasis was placed above all on a lower price and weight reduction. As with the PSG1, a locking aid for quiet weapon operation was installed for the breech. A weight is attached to the muzzle to reduce vibrations. The weapon has a length-adjustable shoulder rest and a height-adjustable cheek rest. A rail in the handguard can accommodate a bipod or a shooting sling. The weapon is offered with a 10 × 42 rifle scope as standard. The rifle scope mounting has been changed compared to the PSG1 and is the same as that of the HK 21 E, HK 23 E and G 41.

HK MSG90 DMR

As the MSG90 DMR (Designated Marksman Rifle), a further development was tested in 1997/1998 by the United States Marine Corps. However, as the weapon was not available in .300 Winchester Magnum , it was rejected.

HK MSG90 A1

The MSG90 A1 is produced for the US Army. It is 57 mm longer and 700 g heavier than the MSG90. In addition, it has a flash hider (which can be exchanged for a silencer ), a diopter sight and a modified piston.
