Lists on the subject

The MR308 ( Match Rifle 308 ) is a self-loading rifle developed for sport shooters and hunters from the German weapons manufacturer Heckler & Koch in the 7.62 × 51 mm NATO caliber . It is the civil version of the HK417 assault rifle , the name refers to the ammunition's alternative designation .308 Winchester. The military variant HK241 was derived from the MR308 (G28 of the Bundeswehr (of which the civil G28Z), M110A1 of the US Army ).

development

The MR308 was developed from the HK417; in contrast to this, it can only fire single fire. Continuous fire is not permitted for civilian weapons under German gun law , so the construction has been changed compared to the HK417 in such a way that conversion into a fully automatic war weapon is not possible. Essential parts of both weapons cannot be interchanged. The MR308 with the barrel lengths of 421 mm (16.5 inches ) and 508 mm (20 inches) is approved for shooting and hunting, while the sample models with the barrel lengths of 305 mm (12 inches) and 406 mm (16 inches) are only for hunting purposes were permitted.

description

The MR308 is a gas pressure charger with a rotary head lock . The weapon is basically based on the American AR models , but has a gas piston with a short stroke instead of directly acting on the bolt carrier. It has a modular structure and was delivered ex works as model variant A1 without any accessories; even the rear sight and front sight were missing. Accessories and optics can be attached using the mounting rail .

precision

In tests by weapons magazines, the weapon is certified to have very good precision for a self-loading rifle and low susceptibility to failure with different ammunition. Depending on the ammunition used, it was possible to determine scatter circles from 26 mm (0.89 MoA ) for 5 shots at a distance of 100 m .

variants

In the US, the MR308 is marketed as the civil MR762.

MR308 A3

From model variant A3 onwards, an open visor, a slide catch lever on both sides and magazine catches that can be operated on both sides became standard. The MR308 A3 is available in 13, 16.5 and 20 inch barrel lengths .

MR308 A3-28

The model variant A3-28 is visually similar to the HK241 / G28, mainly due to the use of the same shoulder rest and the same, longer aluminum handguard with STANAG-4694 rail at 12 o'clock and Picatinny rail at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock. The A3-28 is available with 16.5- and 20-inch barrel. In addition to the standard black, like the HK241 / G28, it can also be ordered in RAL 8000 ( green-brown ).

HK241 / G28

The first "DMR 762" ( D esignated M arksman R IFLE 7.62) and Heckler & Koch now HK241 called military variant G28 was for the Bundeswehr developed to the G3ZF as a designated marksman rifle to replace. Compared to the fully automatic HK417, the MR308 showed a better hit pattern during troop trials and thus met the requirements of the German armed forces. This was 1.5 MoA (minute of angle); which corresponds to a scattering circle of less than 45 mm at a distance of 100 m for every 10 shots.

The G28 is used in the standard configuration with a Schmidt & Bender 3–20 × 50 PM II rifle scope, uses newly loaded ammunition (7.62 × 51 mm DMR ) and can be converted into a patrol version by the shooter. In this lighter configuration, a Schmidt & Bender rifle scope 1–8 × 24 PM II is used; the handguard is shortened by half. However, the Bundeswehr has not yet procured this version.

The list of accessories for the standard configuration includes the already introduced laser light module , the Aimpoint Micro T1 red dot sight, the Qioptiq Merlin LR night vision device, the CNVD-T3 thermal imaging device, the Jenoptik HLR15 laser rangefinder, an assault handle and bipod . In August 2011, Heckler & Koch received the order to supply 560 G28s for the German armed forces. In the standard configuration, with all accessories, the rifle weighs 7.9 kg. In contrast to the standard aluminum version, the upper lock housing is made of steel. In contrast to the MR308, the HK241 / G28 is equipped with a NATO rail at the top .

G28Z

The G28Z, developed in turn from the G28, is the civil version in .308 Winchester caliber with all accessories of the standard configuration, except for the Qioptiq Merlin LR night vision device and the CNVD-T3 thermal imaging device, as civilians are not allowed to purchase or own them.
