Lists on the subject

The MR223 from the German weapons manufacturer Heckler & Koch is a self-loading rifle in .223 Remington caliber for sport shooters and hunters .

The MR223 is the civil version of the HK416 , to which it is very similar both visually and technically. Essential parts of the two rifles are not interchangeable, in order to make the conversion into a war weapon impossible. It uses the gas system originally developed for the HK G36 , which offers a low susceptibility to failure and, thanks to the free-swinging barrel, is extremely precise. The weapon has a modular structure and was delivered ex works as model variant A1 without any accessories; even a mechanical visor was missing. From model variant A3 onwards, however, a mechanical sight, a slide catch lever on both sides and magazine catches that can be operated on both sides became standard.

In the US it is marketed as the HK MR556 .
