Lists on the subject |
The HK23 is a machine gun from the German manufacturer Heckler & Koch .
HK23A1
The HK 23 A1 was created in 1972 from the HK 21 . Optimized for the smaller M193 cartridge , it should open up new customer groups on the international market. As is typical for the system, many parts were interchangeable with the HK 21. The main difference between the weapon and the HK 13 is the type of cartridge feed, which in the HK 23 is only done with belts .
HK23E
The HK 23 E version was introduced around 10 years later. With a 94 mm longer housing, the line of sight has also been lengthened to 685 mm. In addition, the weapon received an additional handle on the barrel jacket and a trigger group set up for 3-shot bursts .
When selecting a new support weapon at group level (Squad Automatic Weapon) for the US Army, however, the weapon as XM262 was subject to the variant of the FN Minimi now introduced as M249 SAW .
