The HK P30 is a self-loading pistol from the German weapons manufacturer Heckler & Koch specially designed for the police and is a further development of the P2000 .

With a barrel length of 98 mm and a total weight of 740 g, the P30 meets the standards for police pistols and uses the 9 × 19 mm caliber commonly used for handguns with a capacity of 15 cartridges per magazine. Its handle is made of fiberglass-reinforced polyamide with corrosion-resistant metal inserts. In addition, it has an open sight with luminescent contrast points and an integrated Picatinny rail .

An adapted version is used by the German customs administration , which was the first customer for the weapon. The 13,500 P30 V6s ordered in autumn 2006 replace the SIG Sauer P6 there. At almost the same time, the Norwegian police ordered 7000 pistols of the P30L V1 variant.
The P30 is the special forces command used and replaced with the personal security forces of the field Jägertruppe the armed forces the gun P7 .
In October 2008 the government council of the Swiss canton of Zurich approved a total of 1.6 million Swiss francs for the re-equipment of the canton police with P30, which replaced the SIG Sauer P225 and P228 there . Since then, the cantons of Solothurn, Aargau, Thurgau, Basel-Land and Appenzell Innerrhoden as well as the border guard corps have also procured the P30 as a service pistol.
At the end of November 2008, the German Federal Police also decided on the P30 as a new service weapon. The delivery took place from summer 2009 to 2011. In 2010, the state of Hesse ordered the P30 V2 as a new service weapon for the police and judiciary.
