The Kettwig Stausee stop is an S-Bahn station in the Kettwig district of Essen . It is located on the Ruhr Valley Railway that runs between Düsseldorf and Hagen and is served by the S 6 line. There is a possibility to change to line 772 of the Rheinbahn in the direction of Kettwig-Mitte and Heiligenhaus . The stop has a central platform with access through a tunnel underneath the tracks. The eponymous Kettwig reservoir is located directly behind the exit .
history
The stop was set up in the course of the demolition of the Kettwig railway bridges in 1945 as a makeshift final stop for the trains arriving from Düsseldorf and Velbert under the name Kettwig-Pusch . In the 1950s a station building was built at the end of the tracks in the direction of Mülheim an der Ruhr, which was demolished again in 1981. After the reconstruction of the railway bridge in the direction of Essen Hauptbahnhof , the stop was given its current name.
From 1926 to 1960 the branch of the Niederbergbahn from the Ruhrtalbahn was behind the stop, in the direction of Düsseldorf, and below the upper platform from 1945 to 1968 the end stop of the trains from Mülheim an der Ruhr over the Untere Ruhrtalbahn .
service
The S-Bahn Rhein-Ruhr has been serving the stop with the S 6 line since 1968 . There is a connection to the Rheinbahn bus line 772 .
