Harold Druken (born January 26, 1979 in St. John’s , Newfoundland and Labrador ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who played 150 games for the Vancouver Canucks , Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs in the course of his playing career between 1996 and 2010 National Hockey League has contested on the position of the center .
Career
Druken spent his junior time between 1996 and 1999 in the franchise of the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League , having previously as Canadians at the Noble and Greenough School American US in Dedham in the state of Massachusetts for high school had gone. After being selected in the OHL Priority Selection , the center forward first switched to the Detroit Whalers , who were relocated from Detroit to Plymouth in the summer of 1997 . In the service of the Whalers Druken spent three successful years, in which he was selected in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft in the second round in 36th place by the Vancouver Canucks from the National Hockey League . In the course of the three seasons he increased from 58 scorer points in his rookie year over 82 to 103. In his last year he was even top scorer with 58 goals and was elected to the second all-star team of the league.
From the juniors Druken moved in the summer of 1999 to the professional area at the Vancouver Canucks. There the attacker was used in the NHL for the next three years, but also spent time in the American Hockey League and International Hockey League with Vancouver's farm teams , the Syracuse Crunch , Kansas City Blades and Manitoba Moose . In particular, his weaknesses on the defensive prevented an early establishment in the NHL. At the beginning of the 2002/03 season , Druken was transferred to the Carolina Hurricanes together with the Czech Jan Hlaváč , while Darren Langdon and Marek Malík were transferred to Vancouver in return .
The center initially played ten games for the Hurricanes before the season ended in an odyssey. After only a month in Carolina, he was placed on the Waiver (NHL) list in December 2002 , from where he was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs . There he spent a few games both in the NHL and with their cooperation partner St. John's Maple Leafs from his hometown, before he found himself again on the waiver. The Carolina Hurricanes brought him back from there in January 2003, but set him after four more NHL games until the end of the season exclusively in the AHL with the Lowell Lock Monsters . In May 2003, however, the Toronto Maple Leafs decided on a return campaign by exchanging Allan Rourke for Druken. The next two game years the offensive player spent with the St. John's Maple Leafs in the NHL and only added nine NHL appearances for Toronto to his vita.
In the summer of 2005 Druken left the North American continent and dared to give new impetus to his career in Europe. He joined the EHC Basel from the Swiss National League A , but played only 18 games for the club during the season due to injury, in which he scored ten times. In the summer of 2006 he returned to his home province and took a two-year break. Between 2008 and 2010 Druken played again in the West Coast Senior Hockey League for the Deer Lake Red Wings , before he retired completely from professional sport at the age of 31.
International
For his home country, Druken took part in the U20 Junior World Championship in 1999 in his native Canada as a junior . He won the silver medal with the maple leaves after a 2-3 final defeat against Russia. To win the precious metal, the striker contributed two scorer points, including one goal, in seven tournament appearances.
