Heide is a district of the local community Asbach in the Neuwied district in northern Rhineland-Palatinate . The place is characterized by agriculture and is developing into a place of residence in the sense of a residential community .

geography

The village is located in the Niederwesterwald, southeast of the main town Asbach, on a hill above and southwest of the Schöneberger Bach. Heide is connected to Landesstraße 272 via Kreisstraße 70, which leads from Asbach to Flammersfeld .

history

The place Heide, formerly also called "Auf der Heiden", "Heid" and "Heyde", was first mentioned in 1670. Heide belonged to the Electorate of Cologne and to the Altenwied office and was part of the " Honnschaft Schöneberg".

After the Rhineland in 1815 to Prussia came Heide belonged to the municipality of Schöneberg in the then newly formed district Neuwied in Koblenz . Schöneberg was initially administered by the Neustadt mayor and from 1823 by the Asbach mayor . According to a census from 1885, Heide had 85 inhabitants who lived in 23 houses.

A first school was built in Heide in 1787 because the parish school in Asbach, which had already existed before, could no longer cope with the increasing number of children. The teacher was paid by the Vicarie and the brotherhood in Asbach. In the second half of the 19th century the school was divided into Heide, the school in Schöneberg was built in 1872 and the school in Altenburg in 1874 .

Until 1974, Heide belonged to the previously independent community of Schöneberg . On March 16, 1974, the local community Asbach was newly formed from it and the communities of Asbach and Limbach, which were dissolved at the same time, and part of the community of Elsaff . In 1987 Heide had 130 inhabitants.
