The first musical home game of the German-speaking singer and songwriter Gisbert zu Knyphausen took place in 2009 on the occasion of an art exhibition at the Knyphausen family's winery. In the following years, Gisbert and his band Kid Kopphausen and other musician friends invited them to a concert at the Draiser Hof every summer . In 2013 he took a break from the stage himself, but remained the host of the home game. In the same year Knyphausen launched a competition for regional talented songwriters : the home game hope . In 2014, the contemplative open-air concert was extended to two days and turned into an indie festival that attracts visitors from all over Germany. The home game in Knyphausen has been taking place over three days since 2017 and is sold out within a short period of time, due to the area being limited to around 2,200 visitors, even before the musicians and bands appearing were announced. In 2020 the home game in Knyphausen took place as a three-day streaming festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic .
character
The home game Knyphausen is characterized by its family cosiness and the relaxed atmosphere of a picnic between grapevines. The cultural program also demonstrates its closeness to wine in the presence of the homemade Riesling, which festival visitors drink in moderation and stylish Heimspiel glasses (printed with the line-up of the day).
“The farm is just very beautiful, with old trees and vineyards. It just has a great atmosphere, and the Riesling adds the rest. Because my father insists it is a winery, only wine should be drunk in addition to alcoholic beverages. There is no beer. And the Riesling has such a great, peaceful atmosphere. "

reception
Rolling Stone magazine described the home game in Knyphausen as the “Ascot among the music festivals, on the Eltville Riviera” and a “wonderful open-air break.” Intro attested the festival a “tasteful line-up” (“at least if you upscale songwriting and mainly acoustic guitars ”) and the question arises every year:“ Is the Heimspiel Knyphausen now one of the cosiest festivals in Germany or just the tastiest wine tasting in the Rheingau? ”jmc magazine describes the Heimspiel as“ one of the most intimate and the most charming open-air concert events in the country [...] not only because of the special location and the unusual atmosphere, but also because a lovingly compiled line-up has been presented here in recent years.
