The Heinrich Heine was an excursion ship that was used on behalf of the Cologne-Düsseldorf Deutsche Rheinschiffahrt AG in the main season for round trips on the Lower Rhine near Düsseldorf . The smallest ship of the Cologne-Düsseldorfer has already been renamed several times by the shipping company in relation to the respective current area of operation. In addition to the scheduled missions, the Heinrich Heine was offered for rent as a party ship. Due to its age, the ship was decommissioned in 2019 and replaced by the MS Rheinkrone .

history

On the move in Düsseldorf

The ship was built in 1969 on behalf of the NV. Rotterdamsche Tramweg Mij in Rotterdam at the Peters shipyard in Dedemsvaart (NL) and baptized in the name of the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland . In 1981 it was sold to the Cologne-Düsseldorfer and renamed the Domspatz . The new owner used the ship until 2001 in round trips on the Rhine near Cologne . From 2001 to 2003 the shipping company used the ship as a Treis card in excursion traffic on the Moselle . Since 2003 it has been used in tour traffic in Düsseldorf under the name of the Düsseldorf-born poet and writer Heinrich Heine . In December 2008, the ship was sold to the wholly owned subsidiary KD Europe S.à rl in Luxembourg and then registered in Valletta , Malta in January 2009 . Since the ships of the Cologne-Düsseldorfer cannot reach their home port due to lack of seaworthiness, they are serviced in the Niehler Hafen in Cologne.

Equipment and technology

The Heinrich Heine is a two-deck passenger ship with two salons in the closed areas. The usable area of the ship is around 220 m², the ceiling height is 2.20 m. With normal seating, there is space for 92 passengers in the rear main deck and 52 passengers in the front upper deck. The sundeck located aft on the upper deck is designed for up to 50 people. In addition, a small bar area with twelve seats was set up on the front main deck. The ship is powered by two Deutz 169 kW diesel engines.
