Helcmanovce (German Helzmanowitz or Hannsdorf , Hungarian Nagykuncfalva - until 1907 Nagykunchfalu - to 1892 Helcmanóc ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 1,424 (as of December 31, 2019), which for Okres Gelnica of, a circle Košický kraj belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the valley of the Hnilec (German Göllnitz ) between the mountains Volovské vrchy and Hnilecké vrchy (both part of the Slovak Ore Mountains ). The center of the village lies at an altitude of 425 m nm and is 10 kilometers from Gelnica and 44 kilometers from Spišská Nová Ves .
history
Helcmanovce was first mentioned in writing in 1297 as Cuncz and was part of the estate of Spiš Castle in the 14th century . In 1828 there are 161 houses and 1618 inhabitants. The population was mainly employed in agriculture and mining.
