The CBX 750 (RC 17 and RC 18) is a motorcycle that was built by the Japanese manufacturer Honda from 1984 to 1989 .

history

The CBX 750 was the successor to the Honda CB 750 F (RC 04) and CB 750 K with DOHC engine and was manufactured in the variants E, F and G. In Germany only the CBX 750 F was offered. The main sales areas were Europe, South Africa and Australia.

A Honda CBX 750 (RC 18) in use by the Hong Kong Police

Malaysia , Singapore and Hong Kong also used a modified version of the motorcycle with the internal designation Honda CBX 750 P ( RC 18 ) in police operations. This type was equipped with a larger oil cooler , full fairing , a case system, a cardan drive of the rear wheel, a single seat bench and the local police equipment.

Technical data (CBX 750 F)

engine

The engine, an air-cooled four-cylinder in - line engine with a 4-stroke Otto system, has two overhead camshafts (DOHC) and 16 valves with hydraulic valve clearance compensation . The fuel-air mixture is prepared using a Keihin constant pressure carburetor . 10,000 min −1 is recommended as the maximum speed, at 11,000 min −1 the speed limiter kicks in . The engine lubrication works with four and a half liters of oil, which is cooled in an oil cooler located above the exhaust manifold, with part of the frame serving as a reservoir for the oil circuit.

The power transmission

The power is transmitted to the chain-driven rear wheel via a hydraulically operated multi-disc oil bath clutch and a 6-speed gearbox .

The landing gear

The frame of the motorcycle is a double-loop frame in which an air-supported telescopic fork with a standpipe diameter of 39 mm works to cushion the front wheel. The telescopic fork has an anti-dive system (TRAC), which reduces deflection (immersion) when braking. The rear wheel suspension is provided by an air-supported central spring strut with Pro-link articulation .

The double disc brake on the front wheel has a diameter of 280 mm and floating calipers with double pistons. The 280 mm rear single disc brake is also designed as a floating caliper brake with double pistons. The wheelbase of the motorcycle is 1465 mm. The front tire is 110 / 90-16 and the rear tire is 130 / 80-18. The curb weight of the vehicle is 241  kg .

Performance

The motor vehicle accelerates from standstill to 100  km / h in less than four seconds, from zero to 160 km / h in less than ten seconds. The maximum speed specified by the manufacturer is 217 km / h.

General information: The volume of the fuel tank is 22 l, of which four liters are reserve. Consumption over 100 km is between 6.5 and 10.0 liters of regular RON 91 , depending on the driving style. The theoretical range is thus around 220 to 330 kilometers.
