Melek Hu (born January 27, 1989 in Liaoning , China ) is a Turkish table tennis player . Melek Hu has been playing table tennis for Fenerbahçe SK since the beginning of 2007 and has been a Turkish citizen since the end of 2007. She was European mixed champion in 2010, doubles European champion in 2015 and women singles in 2016.
Career
In Nantes, she qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics . Together with her compatriot Cem Zeng , who is also of Chinese origin , she was the first table tennis player to take part in the Olympic Games for Turkey. There she retired after two wins in round three against the Japanese Ai Fukuhara . At the Olympic Games in 2012 and 2016 , she failed in the first round.
At the European Championships in 2008 she lost in the quarter-finals to the later silver medalist Liu Jia from Austria. At the European Championship 2010 she was only defeated in the semifinals by the later title holder Wiktoryja Paulowitsch with 4: 2 and won the bronze medal. In mixed she became European champion in 2010 together with Marko Jevtović and vice-European champion in 2012 together with Bora Vang . In 2016 she became European champion in singles with a 4-1 win against Fu Yu from Portugal.
In 2016 Melek Hu lived in Denmark, but plays for the Turkish club Bursa Büyüksehir Belediyespor.
