history

The moor colony was founded in 1829 in the Hymenmoor between Debstedt , Drangstedt and Neuenwalde by the Bederkesa office . In order to develop the village in the moor, which is around four kilometers long today, straight paths and canals were created. In 1840 Hymendorf was given the status of a rural community and was still part of the Bederkesa office until 1859. Subsequently, from 1859 to 1885 the Lehe Office, from 1885 to 1932 the Lehe district and from 1932 to 1977 the Wesermünde district were responsible for higher administrative tasks.

In 1971, the municipality of Hymendorf joined the joint municipality of Neuenwalde as a member , before municipal independence had to end due to the regional reform in Lower Saxony , which came into force on March 1, 1974, when it became part of Langen . On January 1, 2015, Langen merged with the municipalities of the Bederkesa municipality to form the new city of Geestland.

Coat of arms of Hymendorf
Blazon : "In blue , a silver Moor godfather in diagonally left position, top right and bottom left accompanied by a golden bee ."
Foundation of the coat of arms: The community was founded in 1829 as a moor settlement. The moor spade points this out. The bees are an allusion to the name (Hymen = Immen) and are reminiscent of the beekeeping used in the community.
