The Jewish cemetery (Bad Neustadt an der Saale) is a Jewish cemetery in Bad Neustadt an der Saale , the district town of the Lower Franconian district of Rhön-Grabfeld .
history
It was not until 1869 that a Jewish community came into being in Neustadt (the town was only elevated to a spa in 1934) .
The Jewish cemetery was built in 1888/1889. Jews from the communities Neuhaus , Eichenhausen and Rödelmaier were also buried on it. In 1942, the last Bad Neustädter Jews were deported . The last burial took place in the cemetery that year. During and after the National Socialist era , the cemetery fell victim to multiple desecrations .
Location and characterization
The cemetery is located on Mozartstrasse near the B19 and is 33 ares in size. 211 tombstones have been preserved. Next to the entrance, a memorial plaque commemorates the deportation of the last Bad Neustadt Jews.
