Jacques Péron (born September 8, 1912 in Nice , † October 10, 1988 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye ) was a French racing driver .

Career in motorsport

Jacques Péron was active both as a rally driver and as a circuit driver in the 1950s . His greatest successes in rallying were the overall victories at the Morocco Rally in 1951 and 1953. In 1951 he was co-driver of Jean Lucas in the Ferrari 212 ; 1953 Co-pilot of the Belgian Paul van de Kaart in a Porsche 356 1300 . As a driver, he won the 1956 Rallye de Forêt and 1957 the Algeria Rally.

As a circuit driver, he was particularly successful in the Tour de France for automobiles . In 1953 he won the 2510 km road race from his hometown Nice to Brest on an Osca MT4 1100 . In 1951 he finished the tour in second place; 1954 as third. There was also a fourth place in 1958 with Harry Schell and a fifth in 1957 with Georges Burggraff . The 1952 12-hour race in Casablanca also ended for him in the top field; with Jean Lucas he finished second in the Ferrari 225S .

When 24-hour race at Le Mans , he was three times at the start. Two missions ended prematurely after a retirement, in 1951 he finished ninth overall.
