Jacques Zoua Daogari (born September 6, 1991 in Garoua ) is a Cameroonian football player . He has been under contract with the Romanian club Astra Giurgiu since September 2018 .

Career

From 2005 Zoua went through the youth teams of his home club Cotonsport Garoua . In 2008 he was accepted into the first team there.

In 2009 he was signed by the Swiss first division club FC Basel , for whom he initially played for a year in the youth team. He made his debut in the first team at the age of 19 on November 20, 2009 as a substitute in the last 16 match in the Swiss Cup against rivals FC Zurich . The first time he was on the grid was on March 15, 2010 in the away championship game against FC Luzern . He scored his first goal in a serious fight on March 24, 2010 to make it 4-1, again against FC Zurich. At the end of the 2009/10 season , Zoua won the double with FC Basel , the Swiss championship again a year later and the double again in 2011/12 .

At the end of the 2012/13 season , Zoua became Swiss champions for the fourth time in a row with FC Basel and was in the final of the Swiss Cup , which they lost in the penalty shootout . In the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League, he advanced to the semi-finals with FC Basel, where he faced the then Champions League winner, Chelsea . Basel lost both the home and the away game and were eliminated with an overall result of 2: 5. In a season with 76 games, Zoua had a total of 53 appearances, including 24 in the Super League, four in the Cup and 15 appearances in the Champions and Europa League and ten in test matches. He scored 14 goals.

For the 2013/14 season , Zoua moved to Hamburger SV , where his former coach Thorsten Fink worked. He signed a contract valid until June 30, 2016. Zoua scored his first goals in the 4-0 win against SV Schott Jena in the first round of the DFB Cup . A week later, Zoua played for the first time in the Bundesliga in a 3-3 draw against FC Schalke 04 on the first match day . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on August 31, 2013 in a 4-0 home win against Eintracht Braunschweig , making it 2-0. He scored his second goal in the Bundesliga on March 30, 2014 when his team lost 3-1 at Borussia Mönchengladbach to make it 1-0.

At the end of August 2014, Zoua moved to the Turkish Süper Lig to Kayseri Erciyesspor on loan until the end of the 2014/15 season . In Turkey, Zoua developed into a regular player. He was in the starting line-up in 20 of his 23 league appearances and scored eight goals, including two goals in his second game against Gaziantepspor .

In the summer of 2015, Zoua initially returned to HSV and started preparing for the season. At the beginning of August 2015 he was finally transferred to Ligue 1 to the newly promoted Gazélec FC Ajaccio , where he received a two-year contract until June 30, 2017 with an option for a further year. Zoua played his first game for Ajaccio on August 16, 2015 in the 2-0 away defeat by Paris Saint-Germain .

At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern . On August 29, 2016, he made his debut for the Palatinate team in a 1-1 draw on the second matchday at home against Fortuna Düsseldorf . On September 21, 2016, he scored his first two goals for FCK in a 3-0 win on matchday six in the home game against Dynamo Dresden . Zoua came to 21 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga, in which he scored six goals. In August 2017 he left 1. FC Kaiserslautern and terminated his contract.

On October 10, 2017, Zoua moved to the Belgian second division side KFCO Beerschot Wilrijk . A year later he joined the Romanian club Astra Giurgiu .

National team

Zoua played for the Cameroon U-20 team . He was a finalist in the 2009 African Youth Cup in Rwanda , where he scored three goals, and took part in the 2009 U-20 World Cup in Egypt . For the U-20 World Cup in Colombia in 2011 , Zoua received no approval from FC Basel. He was appointed to the extended squad of the Cameroonian national team for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa , but a thigh injury forced him to cancel. With Cameroon, Zoua won the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon and was used in five of six games.
