James Sloyan

James Joseph Sloyan (born February 24, 1940 in Indianapolis , Indiana , USA ) is an American film and theater actor .

Life

As a toddler, Sloyan moved to Italy with his parents . There he spent his childhood in Rome and Milan and on the island of Capri . The family later lived in Switzerland and Ireland . 1957 - Sloyan was 17 years old - the family moved back to the United States and settled in New York City . Soon after, Sloyan began running a small theater there before receiving a scholarship to the renowned American Academy of Dramatic Arts . After two years, Sloyan began working with Joseph Papp at the New York Shakespeare Festival (NYSF).

In 1962 Sloyan was drafted into the United States Army and had to fight in the Vietnam War. Four years later he was fired and returned to the NYSF. He was on stage in no fewer than 28 theater productions and choreographed all the fight scenes. One of his most famous works is One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest . Sloyan's film debut was in Jack Smight's 1970 western The Traveling Executioner .

It is known about his private life that he is married to the film actress Deirdre Lenihan and has two children, Daniel and Samantha , with her .
