Jason Aliston Rogers (born August 31, 1991 in Sandy Point Town ) is a sprinter from St. Kitts and Nevis .
Athletic career
Jason Rogers gained his first experience in international championships at the CARIFTA Games 2007 in Les Abymes , where he was eliminated in the U17 age group over 100 and 200 meters in the preliminary run and in sixth place with the national 4 x 100 meter relay occupied. At the Central America and Caribbean Junior Championships in Port of Spain , he was eliminated over 100 meters in the preliminary round and finished fifth with the relay. In 2008, he reached the semi-finals over 100 and 200 meters in the U20 classification at the CARIFTA Games in Basseterre and took seventh place in the relay. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Cali , he was eliminated in the run over 100 meters and won the bronze medal with the relay. At the end of the season he won the bronze medal in the 100 meter run at the Commonwealth Youth Games in Pune and finished fourth over 200 meters. In 2009 he was eliminated from the CARIFTA Games in Vieux Fort in the semifinals over 200 meters, finished fourth with the 4 x 100 meter relay and fifth with the 4 x 400 meter relay. Then he took part again in the Central America and Caribbean Championships in Havana , where he was eliminated over 100 and 200 meters in the preliminary run. At the Pan-American Junior Championships in Port of Spain, he finished sixth over 100 meters and was eliminated over 200 meters in the preliminary run. He also reached seventh place in the final with the 4 x 400 meter relay.
In 2010 Rogers won the silver medal at the CARIFTA Games in George Town over 100 meters, as well as at the Central American and Caribbean Junior Championships in Santo Domingo . At the Junior World Championships in Moncton he was sixth with 10.49 s. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez , he finished seventh with the 4 x 100 meter relay. At the Commonwealth Games in Delhi , he finished eighth in the 100 meter final. In 2011 he won the bronze medal with the relay at the Central American and Caribbean Championships in Mayagüez, as well as at the World Championships in Daegu . At the end of the season, the Pan American Games took place in Guadalajara , where he was eliminated over 100 meters in the semifinals and won the silver medal behind the team from Brazil with the relay. The next year he won the gold medal over 100 meters at the U23 NACAC championships in Irapuato and qualified for the Olympic Games in London over 100 meters and with the 4 × 100 m relay , but was eliminated in both competitions in the first Round off.
In 2013 he finished fifth at the Central America and Caribbean Championships in Morelia and sixth in the 4 x 100 meter relay. He qualified again for the World Championships in Moscow , where he was eliminated with 10.15 s in the semi-finals over 100 meters and failed with the relay in the prelude. In 2014 he took part in the World Indoor Championships in Sopot , where he reached the semi-finals over 60 meters. At the World Relays in the Bahamas , the St. Kitts and Nevis team finished fourth in the B final. In the summer he took part in the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow , Scotland , where he was eliminated over 100 meters with 10.30 s in the semifinals and did not finish the heat with the relay. At the Pan American Sports Festival in Mexico City , he won the 100-meter run and was eighth over 200 meters. At the Central America and Caribbean Games in Xalapa , he finished fourth with the season.
In 2015 he took sixth place over 100 meters and with the relay at the NACAC championships in San José . In 2016 he qualified again with the relay for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where they were eliminated with 39.81 s in the lead . In 2017, Rogers became national champion in the 100-meter run. In April 2018, he finished sixth over 100 meters in 10.24 s at the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast .
