Jerred Smithson (born February 4, 1979 in Vernon , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player and current coach , who played 642 games for the Nashville Predators , Florida Panthers , Edmonton Oilers and Toronto between 1995 and 2016 Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League on the position of right winger .
Career
After five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen , he signed with the Los Angeles Kings . From 2000 to 2005 he played most of the time in the American Hockey League . In the 2002/03 season he first played for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League . In the end, he got two points in 22 games. In the 2003/04 season he played eight games for the Kings. On July 22, 2004, he moved to the Nashville Predators . During the lockout , he played for the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL. In the 2005/06 season he played for the first time only exclusively in the NHL for the Predators. In the end, he had five goals and 14 points in 66 games.
On February 24, 2012, the Nashville Predators transferred him to the Florida Panthers in exchange for a six- round suffrage in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft . At the trade deadline on April 3, 2013, it was handed over to the Edmonton Oilers .
He started the 2013-14 season as a free agent before the Toronto Marlies signed him from the American Hockey League . After only seven AHL games, the Toronto Maple Leafs brought him into their NHL squad as a cooperation team of the Marlies. Finally, he ended the season commuting between the two teams. He then paused for a year before joining the Herning Blue Fox in Denmark in July 2015 . After reaching the Danish runner-up, he ended his active career at the age of 37. In the 2017/18 season he worked as an assistant coach for the Vernon Vipers in the British Columbia Hockey League .
