Joakim Mæhle Pedersen (born May 20, 1997 in Østervrå ) is a Danish football player . He is under contract with KRC Genk in Belgium and is a young Danish national player.

Career

Mæhle began playing football at Østervrå IF and moved to the youth training center of the partner club Aalborg BK at the age of twelve . On the seventh match day of the 2016/17 season he made his debut in the Superliga and missed participation in the international competition with Aalborg BK at the end of the season. In the summer of 2017, Mæhle moved to KRC Genk in Belgium and signed a three-year contract with an option for an additional year. At the end of the 2017/18 season, the club qualified for the 2018/19 UEFA Europa League . There Genk was eliminated in the play-off round.

In the 2018/19 season , Mæhle became Belgian champions with Genk, which means that he will also play in the Champion League in the 2019/20 season .

On September 11, 2019, the association announced an extension of its contract until 2023.

National team

Mæhle played a game for the Danish U-20 team and made his debut for the Danish U-21 national team on 6 October 2017 in a 5-2 victory in the European Championship qualifier in Aalborg .

At the U21 European Championship 2019 he was part of the squad of the Danish U21 national team and was on the pitch in two of three group games during the entire game. Denmark was eliminated in second place after the group stage.
