Kristian Thorstvedt (born March 13, 1999 in Stavanger ) is a Norwegian football player who has been under contract with the Belgian first division company KRC Genk since January 2020 . He has been the Norwegian U21 international since September 2019 .

Career

society

Thorstvedt started playing football in his hometown at Viking Stavanger before moving with his family to Eastern Norway in 2013, where he played in the Stabæk Fotballs youth department . There he played in various junior teams and made a name for himself with good performances. For the 2018 season he moved back to Viking, where he signed a 1-1 / 2-year contract and was immediately included in the first team.

He made his competitive debut for the second division on April 10 (2nd matchday) in the 0-2 home defeat against Mjøndalen IF , where he came on for Jordan Hallam at half time . In his third appearance two weeks later, he scored his first goal in a 4-0 home win against Åsane Fotball . As a result, he established himself as an undisputed regular player under head coach Bjarne Berntsen . His first brace was in the 6-1 away win against Strømmen IF on July 1 (15th matchday). Even in the top Norwegian league he was still part of the starting lineup and scored both goals of his team on April 7 (2nd matchday) in the 2-0 away win against Tromsø IL . He ended the 2019 season with ten goals and three assists in 26 appearances.

At the turn of the year 2019/20 Kristian Thorstvedt moved to the Belgian first division player KRC Genk and signed a contract there until summer 2023. Already in his first game for his new club, the 3-0 away win against SV Zulte Waregem on January 19, 2020 (22 . Matchday), he scored his first goal. Kristian Thorstvedt is the son of former goalkeeper Erik who played in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur in the 1990s . Between 1982 and 1996 he made 97 international matches for the Norwegian national team and is currently the player with the fourth most appearances there.
