Carlos Eccehomo Cuesta Figueroa (born March 9, 1999 in Quibdó ) is a Colombian football player who has been under contract with the Belgian first division club KRC Genk since July 2019 . The central defender is a former Colombian junior international.

Career

Cuesta comes from the youth department of Atlético Nacional in Medellín , where he was promoted to the first team for the 2016 season . He made his debut in the highest Colombian league on July 2, 2016 (1st matchday) in a 3-3 draw against Alianza Petrolera . In his first season he played 15 league games. In the following game year 2017 , at the age of 18, he was already a regular in the central defense of the Verdolagas . He lost this regular place again in the next season in 2018 and only made 11 appearances. By the time he moved in early July 2019, he had played five league games in the 2019 season .

On July 5, 2019, Carlos Cuesta moved to the Belgian first division club KRC Genk for a transfer fee of 3.8 million euros , where he was given a five-year contract. His debut, he played on July 20, 2019 when he and Genk in the match for the Belgian Supercup the KV Mechelen 3: defeated 0th In the league, he initially shuttled between the bank and the starting line-up, but finally established himself in the team of head coach Felice Mazzù in November and later in the month in that of his successor Hannes Wolf . In this 2019/20 season , he played 20 league games.

National team
