Johann Peter Hebel Prize

The Johann-Peter-Hebel-Preis has been awarded every two years by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Science, Research and Art since 1974 as a literary prize of the state of Baden-Württemberg; previously there was an annual cycle. After the Schiller Memorial Prize, it is considered the most important literary prize in this state. It was originally donated in 1935 by the Baden Ministry of Culture and was first awarded in 1936.

It is awarded to writers , translators , essayists , media professionals or scientists who are connected to the Alemannic language area or Johann Peter Hebel through their journalistic work . The prize is endowed with 10,000 euros and will be awarded in Hausen im Wiesental as part of the Lever Festival .
