Josef Graf (born June 30, 1957 in Riedenburg ) is a German theologian and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Regensburg .

Life

Josef Graf studied Catholic theology and philosophy in Regensburg and Rome. On October 10, 1983, he was ordained a priest in Rome . After his Kaplanat he graduated in Rome doctoral studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University and was established in 1990 with a thesis on the theology of Gottlieb Söhngen to Dr. theol. PhD. In 1987 he became an original member of the Catholic student association KAV Capitolina Rome in the CV and in Regensburg finally a member of the KDStV Rupertia Regensburg, where he still holds the office of liaison pastor today. In 1989 he was appointed spiritual director of the Regensburg seminary . Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Honorary Chaplain to His Holiness ( Monsignor ) in 2007 . In 2010 he was invested in the Teutonic Order in Regensburg and belongs to the Commandery "An der Donau".

Pope Francis appointed him titular bishop of Inis Cathaig on April 24, 2015 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in Regensburg. On June 7, 2015, Graf received his episcopal ordination from Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer in Regensburg Cathedral . As Mitkonsekreatoren seemed the bishop of the neighboring diocese of Pilsen , František Radkovský , and the Regensburg Bishop Reinhard Pappenberger . Numerous other national and international bishops also took part in the consecration service, including the former Bishop of Regensburg and Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith , Gerhard Cardinal Müller , and the Archbishop of Prague, Dominik Cardinal Duka .

Josef Graf is a member of the Faith Commission , the Commission for Spiritual Professions and Ecclesiastical Services , the Bioethics Sub-Commission and the Central and Eastern Europe Sub-Commission (especially Renovabis) (a sub- commission of the World Church Commission (X) ) of the German Bishops' Conference .
