Kamiński (feminine form: Kamińska , plural: Kamińscy) - outside of Poland also Kaminski  - is a family name . The name comes from East Prussia and Poland . There are different derivations depending on the origin.

If it comes from northern East Prussia, it is an indication of a place to live in a cleared area :

kamienas = tree trunk, rootstock, trunk end of a felled tree
kamienis = herb stem
kaminai = moss
kamine = wild forest bee

If you come from southern East Prussia and Poland:

kamis = chimney
kamień = stone
