Karl Heinrich Kuno von Larisch (born August 2, 1824 in Kümmritz , † October 3, 1903 in Böckey, Lüben district ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry .

Life

Karl was a son of the Prussian major a. D. Georg Karl Heinrich von Larisch (1786–1858) and his wife Ida, born von Stammer (1798–1876) from the Görlsdorf house . His older brother Alfred (1819–1897) was Minister of State for the Duke of Anhalt.

Military career

Larisch attended high schools in Luckau and Berlin . On November 21, 1841 he joined the 6th Cuirassier Regiment of the Prussian Army and was promoted to Second Lieutenant by September 1843 . As such, he was regimental adjutant from April 1847 to mid-September 1850 and then joined the 5th Cuirassier Regiment . After a brief assignment as leader of the replacement squadron , Larisch was commanded as adjutant of the 2nd Cavalry Brigade to Danzig on December 16, 1854 and promoted to Prime Lieutenant in November 1855 . With evolution of this command was Larisch on April 12, 1859 Captain and Regiment Landwehr rider for one year service as Eskadronführer the 5th heavy in Wohlau commanded. This was followed by a command as a squadron leader to the 2nd Combined Uhlan Regiment, from which the Posensche Uhlan Regiment No. 10 was formed. Larisch was appointed squadron chief on July 1, 1860 and transferred to Glogau on June 25, 1864 as adjutant of the 9th Division . In this position he rose to major on April 3, 1866 and was assigned to the combined Landwehr-Cavalry Division of the I. Reserve Army Corps as a general staff officer for the duration of the mobilization on the occasion of the war against Austria . After the peace treaty , Larisch was appointed regular staff officer in the newly formed Dragoon Regiment No. 15 and, after almost three years, on October 21, 1869, appointed commander of the Magdeburg Cuirassier Regiment No. 7 . In this position he was promoted to lieutenant colonel on July 26, 1870 .

After the beginning of the war against France , Larisch broke his right arm on the march in Dürkheim by falling on a horse. He then had to surrender his regiment and did not take command again before Paris until mid-September 1870 . Larisch took part in the siege of the French capital and in the battles at Évreux , Alençon and Bernay . Awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for his behavior , Larisch advanced to colonel in mid-January 1872 and was appointed commander of the 5th Cavalry Brigade in Frankfurt (Oder) on June 15, 1875, with his regiment à la suite . While still major general , he took over the 6th division in Brandenburg an der Havel on November 11, 1882 and was promoted to lieutenant general ten days later . With the award of the Order of the Red Eagle 1st class with the enamel ribbon of the Order of the Crown , Larisch was put up for disposal on January 15, 1887 with the statutory pension .

After his departure, Kaiser Wilhelm II gave him the character of general of the cavalry on September 20, 1890 .
