Karl Friedrich Gustav von Lilljeström (born September 3, 1787 in Stralsund , † December 24, 1852 in Königsberg ) was a Prussian lieutenant general .

Life

The Lilljeström (Lilienström) family is an old Nordic sex, to which the president of the Swedish-Pomeranian government Johann Nicodemus von Lilljeström († 1657) belonged. His parents were the Swedish major Thure Diedric von Lilljeström and his wife Juliane Sophie Karoline, née von Schmalensee (1754-1820).

Military career

Lilljeström received his education at the grammar school in Stralsund . He then entered Prussian service and on December 15, 1801 was a corporal in the infantry regiment "von Borcke" . On August 6, 1803 he was portepeefähnrich and on October 15, 1804 ensign . In the Fourth Coalition War he fought near Jena and Lübeck as well as in the defense of Kolberg .

After the Peace of Tilsit , Lilljeström was transferred to the light battalion "von Schill" on December 27, 1807 . With a patent dated October 21, 1804, he was transferred to the Leib Infantry Regiment on August 20, 1808 as a second lieutenant . There he was promoted to Prime Lieutenant on April 5, 1812 and took part in the Prussian campaign against Russia in 1812 . He fought in the siege of Riga and the skirmishes near Dahlenkirchen, Graefenthal and Tomczno. For Dahlenkirchen Lilljeström received the order Pour le Mérite on October 30, 1812 . On June 16, 1813 he was promoted to staff captain and on June 19, 1813, he was transferred to the 2nd Guards Regiment on foot . During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the battles near Großgörschen , Bautzen , Dresden , Leipzig , Brienne , Arcis-sur-Aube and Paris , and also in the battles near Königswartha, Pfannendorf and Obergraupen. For Leipzig Lilljeström received the Iron Cross 2nd class. He was wounded near Paris and was awarded the Order of St. Anne II. Class and the Knight's Cross of the Military Max Joseph Order .

On April 8, 1815, he was appointed captain and company commander. On March 18, 1816 he was promoted to major and on March 6, 1817 he was ordered to serve in the general staff of the brigade in Stettin . On March 30, 1818 he was aggregated on foot to the 2nd Guards Regiment and commanded to serve in the General Staff of the 3rd Division . On April 3, 1820, he was assigned to the General Staff of the 3rd Division, but on March 30, 1821, he was transferred to the General Staff of the VII Army Corps . From there he was assigned to the 13th Infantry Regiment on May 18, 1825 , and then transferred to the 16th Infantry Regiment as a battalion commander on January 13, 1827 . In mid-May 1827, Lilljeström came to the 15th Infantry Regiment as a battalion commander in exchange with Friedrich von Delitz . In 1828 he received the service cross . On March 30, 1830 he was patented April 3, 1830 lieutenant colonel . On March 30, 1832 he was commissioned to lead the 15th Infantry Regiment and on February 19, 1833 Lilljeström was appointed commander. On March 30, 1834 he was promoted to colonel . Five years later he became commander of the 1st Landwehr Brigade and in this position was promoted to major general on September 10, 1840 . On March 31, 1846, he was transferred to the Graudenz fortress as commandant . There Lilljeström received on August 6, 1851 the star for the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. On December 15, 1851 he was able to celebrate his 50th anniversary with the company. On 15 July 1852 he received his farewell as a lieutenant general with statutory pension . However, he died unmarried on December 27, 1852 in Königsberg.
