Ketowo ( Russian Кето́во ) is a village (selo) in the Kurgan Oblast in Russia with 7251 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010).

geography

The place is a good 10 km as the crow flies south of the center (about 4 km from the outskirts) of the oblast capital Kurgan in the southwestern part of the West Siberian lowlands . It is located on a right arm of the Tobol, which flows just under 2 km to the west, called Shchuchye Lake .

Ketowo is the administrative center of the Rajons Ketowski and seat of the rural community (selskoje posselenije) Ketowski selsowet, also includes the settlement located 6 km northeast Pridoroschny to.

history

The village was founded in 1703 by the farmers Iwan and Grigori Ketow and later named after them. After the village was abandoned twice during the 18th century, it has existed continuously since 1800.

Since 1924 it belonged to the Kurganski rajon, whose administrative seat was initially in Kurgan and later in the village of Vvedenskoye to the west of the city . On February 15, 1944, Ketowo became the administrative seat of a Rajon named after him. On November 5, 1959, the Rajon was dissolved and connected again to the Kurganski rajon, but its administrative seat moved to Ketowo. On March 3, 1964, the Rajon got its current name after the administrative seat.

To the east of Ketowo, the regional road 37K-0002 (formerly R327) runs from Kurgan via the Rajon centers Gljadjanskoje and Sverinogolowskoje to the Kazakh border (in Kazakhstan there is a connection to the A21 from Mamljut near Petropavl to Qostanai after another 50 km ).

The nearest train station is in Kurgan on the southern Samara  - Chelyabinsk  - Omsk route of the Trans-Siberian Railway .
