The place was first mentioned in 1007 as "Seuuaha" in the deed of foundation of the Bamberg diocese . The place name is derived from the same name of the water body. The place originally belonged to the Forchheim royal estate and was given to the diocese by Emperor Heinrich II . In 1040 it fell back to the empire and in 1072 it was finally returned to the diocese. In 1778 the Bamberg fiefdom comprised a total of 17 properties. As part of the municipal edict, Kleinseebach was assigned to the Möhrendorf tax district in 1811 . In 1818 the rural community of Kleinseebach was formed, to which the Kleinseebacher mill belonged. It was subordinate to the regional court of Herzogenaurach in administration and jurisdiction and to the tax office in Erlangen (from 1920 tax office in Erlangen ). In the voluntary jurisdiction, 5 properties were subordinate to the Oberndorf Patrimonial Court . On July 12, 1827, the community was transferred to the Erlangen district court . From 1862 on, Kleinseebach was administered by the Erlangen District Office (renamed the Erlangen District in 1938 ). The jurisdiction remained until 1879 the District Court Erlangen, from 1880 at the district court Erlangen . The municipality had an area of 5,119 km².
