Leitzersdorf is located in the Weinviertel in Lower Austria. The area of ​​the municipality covers 27.88 square kilometers. 7.17 percent of the area is forested. The largest forest area in the municipality is the Rohrwald , in which the Waschberg is also located.

history

On May 11, 1484, a battle took place near Leitzersdorf between the troops of the Hungarian King Matthias Corvinus (r. 1458–1490) and those of Emperor Friedrich III. (ruled 1452–1493). Frederick's army, which advanced to relieve the besieged town of Korneuburg , suffered a heavy defeat against the Hungarians who wanted to prevent it.

According to the results of the 2001 census, there were 1098 inhabitants. In 1991 the municipality had 1,065 inhabitants, in 1981 975 and in 1971 974 inhabitants.
