Klieština (Hungarian Kelestény - until 1907 Kliestina ) is a municipality in northwestern Slovakia with 342 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Považská Bystrica , a district of the Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the Javorník Mountains on the Radotiná stream , a tributary of the Marikovský potok in the catchment area of the Waag . The center of the village is at an altitude of 380 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Považská Bystrica .
Neighboring communities are Dolná Mariková in the north, Hatné in the east, Udiča (district Slopné) in the south and Púchov in the west.
history
Klieština was first mentioned in writing in 1408 as Klystyna . The village was owned by the Lieskovský family and from 1439 belonged to the territory of Waagbistritz. In 1784 the village had 60 houses, 65 families and 344 residents. In 1828 there were 61 houses and 361 inhabitants who were employed as basket makers, fruit growers and sieve makers.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
From 1979 to 1990 Klieština was part of the Dolná Mariková municipality.
population
According to the 2011 census, Klieština had 350 inhabitants, 346 of whom were Slovaks . Four residents did not give any information about their ethnicity .
324 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, three residents to the Christian communities, two residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 16 residents was not determined.
