Dolný Lieskov (until 1927 "Dolné Lieskové" in Slovak; in Hungarian Alsómogyoród - until 1907 Alsólieszkó ) is a municipality in north-western Slovakia with 836 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Považská Bystrica , a district of the Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
The village is located in the Strážovské vrchy mountains in the valley of the Pružinka river . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 310 m nm and is 11 kilometers from Považská Bystrica .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into the municipal parts Dolný Lieskov and Tŕstie (incorporated in 1980, until 1973 Slovak "Trstie"; Hungarian Térnádasd - until 1907 Trsztye ).
Neighboring municipalities are Horný Lieskov in the north, Podskalie in the east, Pružina in the southeast, Mojtín in the south, Slopná in the southwest and Visolaje in the west.
history
Dolný Lieskov was first mentioned in writing in 1327 as Maior Lyszkocz and was owned by the Leszkóczy family . In 1598 there were 14 farmhouses, in 1720 six taxpayers lived in the village. In 1784 the village had 30 houses, 33 families and 198 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 16 houses and 175 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary , and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
From 1976 to 1993 Dolný Lieskov was together with Horný Lieskov part of the municipality Lieskov, which also includes the places Slopná (1979–1990), Podskalie (1980–1993) and - as mentioned above - Tŕstie.

According to the 2011 census, 822 inhabitants lived in Dolný Lieskov, including 782 Slovaks , six Czechs and one Magyar and one Moravian . Three residents indicated a different ethnic group and 29 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
755 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, three residents each to the Seventh-day Adventists and the Orthodox Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Church AB, the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Czechoslovak Hussite Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 14 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 43 residents was not determined.
