Bodiná (until 1927 in Slovak "Bodina"; in Hungarian Bogyós - until 1907 Bogyina or Bodina ) is a municipality in northwestern Slovakia with 494 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Považská Bystrica , a district of the Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
The community is located in the Súľovské vrchy mountains in a mountain basin on the upper reaches of the Bodianka stream . The center of the village is at an altitude of 410 m nm and is ten kilometers from Považská Bystrica .
Neighboring municipalities are Vrchteplá in the north, Súľov-Hradná in the northeast, Malá Čierna in the east, Veľká Čierna in the southeast, Prečín in the south, Považská Bystrica ( Praznov district ) in the west and Kostolec in the northwest.
history
Bodiná was first mentioned in writing in 1345 as Bood . The village was owned by the noble families Súľovský and Szálóki and temporarily belonged to the territory of Waagbistritz. In 1598 there were 25 houses in Bodiná, in 1786 the village had 47 houses, 47 families and 329 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 35 houses and 401 inhabitants who were employed as farmers.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 496 inhabitants in Bodiná, 491 of them Slovaks and one Pole . Four residents did not give any information about their ethnicity .
418 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 49 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church, the Greek Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church. 12 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 14 residents was not determined.
