Vrchteplá (until 1927 in Slovak "Vrch Teplá"; in Hungarian Felsőhéve - until 1907 Vrchtepla ) is a municipality in northwestern Slovakia with 263 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Považská Bystrica , a district of Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
The village is located in the Súľovské vrchy mountains on the upper reaches of the Manínsky brook . The immediate area of the built-up area is designed like a hill country, further from the village the landscape is mountainous. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 520 m nm and is ten kilometers from Považská Bystrica .
Neighboring communities are Súľov-Hradná in the north and east, Bodiná in the south, Kostolec in the west and Plevník-Drienové in the north-west.
history
Vrchteplá was first mentioned in writing in 1430 as Toppla . The village was owned by the noble families Klobusiczky and Podmaniczky , later it belonged to the domain of Waagbistritz. In 1786 the village had 39 houses, 40 families and 225 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 33 houses and 263 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and forest workers.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. During the Slovak National Uprising, and especially in the spring of 1945, there were frequent skirmishes between the partisans and the German armed forces. On Mount Hôrka there is a grave with the bodies of ten partisans.

According to the 2011 census, Vrchteplá had 258 inhabitants, 234 of whom were Slovaks . 24 residents gave no information on ethnicity .
151 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB, 51 residents the Roman Catholic Church, five residents the Evangelical Methodist Church, two residents of another denomination and one resident of the Mormons. 16 residents had no denomination and 32 residents had no denomination.
