Koczarki (German Kotzargen , 1929 to 1945 Eichhöhe ) is a Polish village in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in the Gmina Kętrzyn (rural municipality Rastenburg ).

geography

Koczarki is one of 23 districts in the rural municipality of Kętrzyn . The administrative seat is the city of the same name Kętrzyn (Rastenburg) , which as an independent municipality does not belong to the rural municipality. Koczarki is located 13 kilometers southeast of Kętrzyn. The village is about 40 kilometers south of Poland's state border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast .

history

From 1874 the rural community Kotzargen and also the manor district Kotzargen belonged to the district of Budzisken No. 2 and from 1908 to the district of Budzisken ( Budziska in Polish ). In 1928 the Kotzargen manor district was incorporated into the Kotzargen rural community.

Due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty , the population voted in the referendums in East and West Prussia on July 11, 1920 on whether they would continue to belong to East Prussia (and thus Germany) or join Poland. In Kotzargen, 260 residents voted to remain with East Prussia, while Poland did not vote.

In 1929 the rural community Kotzargen was renamed “Eichhöhe” and in 1932 the district Budzisken was renamed Wachau.
