Nowa Różanka

Nowa Różanka (German Neu Rosenthal ) is a village in Poland in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . The village belongs to the powiat Kętrzyński in the Gmina Kętrzyn (rural community Rastenburg ). The village forms a Schulzenamt ( sołectwo ) to which no other localities belong.

Geographical location

Nowa Różanka is located in north-east Poland, about five kilometers north of the city of Kętrzyn and 20 kilometers south of the state border with the Russian Kaliningrad Oblast . Three kilometers north is a settlement of the same name, which belongs to Gmina Srokowo (Drengfurth) .

history

Today's Nowa Różanka was created in the 14th century on an area of 54 hooves according to Kulmer law . In 1817 there were 42 houses in the village. In January 1945 the Red Army took the area and as a result of the war the area became part of Poland.

In 1945 one of the first schools in the area was reopened here. In 1948 a library was established. In 1970 there was a cinema with 100 seats in the village. 1973 belonged to the Schulzenamt ( sołectwo ) Nowa Różanka, the southern village Strzyże .

Gmina / Gromada

In 1945, immediately after the war, the village became the seat of a community ( gmina ). In 1946 the municipality covers an area of 8,943 hectares with 30 localities. In 1954 the administrative structure was changed and the village became the seat of a Gromada which in 1960 had an area of 55.46 km² on which 1574 people lived. On July 1, 1968, the Gromada was dissolved.

Nowa Różanka is located on the voivodship road DW 650 , which joins the voivodship road DW 591 at Stara Różanka, two kilometers south .

The village does not have its own rail connection. The nearest train station is in Kętrzyn. From there the PKP offers direct connections to Olsztyn and Poznan .

The geographically closest international airport is Kaliningrad Airport , which is located about 100 kilometers to the northwest on Russian territory. The nearest international airport on Polish territory is Lech Walesa Airport in Gdansk, about 200 kilometers to the west .
