Nowa Różanka ( German Waldhaus Wenden ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Srokowo (rural community Drengfurth ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Nowa Różanka is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, nine kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ).

history

Waldhaus Wenden initially belonged to the Dönhofstädt manor district ( Drogosze in Polish ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . From 1928 to 1945 it was a residential area within the rural community of Stettenbruch ( Szczeciniak in Polish ). Together with the whole of southern East Prussia, the small town was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war and was given the Polish form of name “Nowa Różanka”. In contrast to the town of the same name just three kilometers to the south, which belongs to Gmina Kętrzyn (rural community Rastenburg ), the former Waldhaus Wenden is integrated into Gmina Srokowo (rural community Drengfurth ).

Until 1945, Waldhaus Wenden was parish in the Protestant Church of Wenden (East Prussia) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic St. Katharinen Church in Rastenburg in what was then the Diocese of Warmia . Today Nowa Różanka belongs to the Catholic parish Winda in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Evangelical Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Nowa Różanka is located three kilometers northwest of Voivodship Road 650 and can be reached from the town of the same name Nowa Różanka (New Rosenthal) on a side road that leads to Szczeciniak (Stettenbruch) . From Winda (Wenden) a road leads directly into town. There is no connection to rail traffic .
