Wólka Jankowska ( German Marienwalde ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).
Geographical location
Wólka Jankowska is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship , 16 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ).
history
Marienwalde was a large Vorwerk and until 1945 incorporated into Baumgarten ( Polish: Ogródki ) in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . In 1820 the small town had 24, in 1885 68, and in 1905 still 38 inhabitants. On September 30, 1928 the manor districts Baumgarten (Polish: Ogródki ), Lenzkeim ( Łęsk ) and Wickerau ( Wikrowo ) were incorporated into the rural community of Baumgarten.
When the whole of southern East Prussia was transferred to Poland in 1945 as a result of the war , Marienwalde was also affected. It received the Polish form of the name "Wólka Jankowska". Today's hamlet ( Przysiółek in Polish ) is now a place in the rural community of Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 of the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then it belongs to the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .
church
Until 1945 Marienwalde was parish in the Protestant Church Barten ( Polish Barciany ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of St. Katharina in Rastenburg in what was then the Diocese of Warmia .
Today Wólka Jankowska belongs to the Catholic parish Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia and to the Evangelical St. John's Church in Kętrzyn with its branch churches in Barciany and Srokowo .
traffic
Wólka Jankowska is a bit out of the way and can be reached via a partially impassable side road from Kosakowo (Marienthal) via Lipowo . There is no connection to rail traffic .
