Lesieniec ( German  Waldenthal ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship within the Gmina Srokowo (rural municipality Drengfurth ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Lesieniec is located in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 16 kilometers northeast of the district town of Kętrzyn ( German  Rastenburg ).

history

The small Gutsort Waldental , previously called mining Härling , was founded on August 28, 1821 and was in the form of the name Waldenthal until 1938 a residential area within the municipality of Drengfurth, Vorstadt, in the East Prussian district of Rastenburg . In 1885 it had 29 inhabitants, and in 1905 15. With the suburb of Drengfurth, Waldenthal was incorporated into the municipality of Drengfurth ( Srokowo in Polish ) in 1938 .

In war-induced forest valley in 1945 came with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland and received the Polish form of the name "Lesieniec". Today is the small place "część wsi Leśny Rów" ( German  "part of the village Leśny Rów" ) (Ivenhof) within the rural community Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia Voivodeship -Masures associated.

Until 1945, Waldenthal was parish in the Protestant parish church of Drengfurth in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union and in the Catholic Church of St. Katharina Rastenburg with the Drengfurth branch chapel in the then diocese of Warmia .

Today, on the Catholic side, Lesieniec belongs to the Holy Cross Church Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia , as well as to the Evangelical Church Srokowo , a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the Diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Lsieniec is conveniently located on the province road 650 , which connects Stara Różanka (Alt Rosenthal) not far from Kętrzyn with Węgorzewo (Angerburg) and Gołdap (Goldap) . In addition, side roads from the east or north-east of Surwile (Serwillen) or Pyszki (Nordenhof) end in Lesieniec.

There is no longer a connection to rail traffic . Until 1945, Drengfurth was the next train station as the end point of the railway line coming from Rastenburg , which was operated by the Rastenburger Kleinbahnen , but was not reactivated after 1945.
