Bajory Małe ( German  Klein Bajohren , 1938 to 1945 Kleinblankenfelde ) is a village in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and belongs to the Gmina Srokowo (rural community Drengfurth ) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ).

Geographical location

Bajory Małe is located on the Masurian Canal ( Kanał Mazurski in Polish ) in the northern center of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, 17 kilometers southeast of the former district town of Gerdauen ( Russian Schelesnodoroschny ) buw. 24 kilometers northeast of today's district metropolis Kętrzyn ( German Rastenburg ).  

history

In 1785 Klein Bajohren was called a " cöllmisch village with 16 fireplaces". In 1874 the village came to the newly established Bajohren district in the East Prussian district of Gerdauen .

On June 3, 1938 - with effect from July 16, 1938 - Klein Bajohren was renamed to "Kleinblankenfelde" for reasons of defense against foreign-sounding place names. 1945 was in consequence of the war with the entire southern East Prussia to Poland handed over and received the Polish form of the name "Bajory Małe". Today the village is part of the rural community Srokowo (Drengfurth) in the powiat Kętrzyński ( Rastenburg district ), until 1998 the Olsztyn Voivodeship , since then the Warmia-Masurian Voivodeship .

Evangelical

Until 1945 Klein Bajohren or Kleinblankenfeld was parish in the Protestant parish of Nordenburg ( Russian: Krylowo ) in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today the village belongs to the church in Brzeźnica (Birkenfeld) , a branch church of the Johanneskirche Kętrzyn in the diocese of Masuria of the Evangelical-Augsburg Church in Poland .

Roman Catholic

Greek Catholic Church in Bajory Małe

The few Catholics in Klein Bajorehn and Kleinblankenfelde were first parish in Insterburg (in Russian: Chernyachovsk ) before 1945 , then between 1905 and 1931 they came to the parish of Angerburg (in Polish : Węgorzewo ) in what was then the Diocese of Warmia . Today the numerously large Catholic population also belongs to Brzeźnica and the local branch church of the parish of the Holy Cross Srokowo in the current Archdiocese of Warmia .

Greek Catholic

Today there is a Greek Catholic Church in Bajory Małe which maintains the Byzantine Rite.

Bajory Małe is located on a side road that branches off from Voivodeship Road 650 at Srokowo (Drengfurth) and continues via Bajory Wielkie (Groß Bajohren , 1938 to 1945 Großblankenfelde) to Brzeźnica (Birkenfeld) on the Polish-Russian border with Kaliningrad Oblast (Königsberg area) leads. In addition, side streets from neighboring towns end in Bajory Małe.

There is no train connection.
